2. Justin Holiday’s stock continues to rise

With Zach LaVine still working his way back from a torn ACL injury, the Bulls needed someone to hold down the starting 2-guard spot until he returns.

Enter Justin Holiday.

On a team compiled of unproven players looking to take the next step, Holiday knew he would have to play a significant role and he has risen to the occasion, to say the least.

After scoring in double figures in three of the first four preseason games, Holiday had his best game to date against the Cavaliers. He finished the evening with a game-high 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds on an efficient 8-for-16 from the field.

Additionally, Holiday posted a +18 rating; connected on four of his seven attempts from beyond the arc, recorded three steals and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Of course, if one wanted to rain on the parade a bit, it could be mentioned that Holiday committed six turnovers. At the same time, I think this is something Fred Hoiberg can live with for now, considering how well Holiday played at both ends of the floor.

Simply put, Holiday has proven the Bulls made the right choice when the two sides agreed to a multi-year deal over the summer.
