Chicago Bulls: 3 takeaways from preseason win over Cavs
3. It’s just the preseason
Looking at this Bulls roster on paper, I predicted they wouldn’t have much success in the 2017-18 campaign, and yes, that included the preseason slate as well. Much to my surprise, though, the Bulls have played competitively for the most part and have found a way to bounce back from each of their two losses – a trait that will definitely serve them well during the upcoming season.
Also, while the Cavaliers were without the services of Isaiah Thomas — who was one of the key players acquired in the Kyrie Irving trade and isn’t expected to return to the court until January — they still fielded a fairly competitive squad. This is the upside of this win for the Bulls.
Unfortunately, although the preseason provides each team with the opportunity to build chemistry, especially with younger players looking to prove themselves, this win had very little value in the grand scheme of things.
For any of us who may be fooled into thinking this Bulls team will be fun to watch this season, I have one word for you: Don’t.
Yes, these new-look Bulls team have shown they’re capable of giving a respectable effort at both ends of the floor at times, but when the games actually begin to count, they won’t have many wins to hang their hats on.
