Strength No. 2: Signing Rudy Gay

While it was never talked about frequently, Rudy Gay going to the Spurs could be huge. As mentioned earlier, Gay was once an amazing talent. Since he left Memphis, he has not been talked about much.

Gay played for the Sacremento Kings last season, where he averaged 18.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Unfortunately, he only played in 30 games.

Gay is bouncing back from an Achilles injury that happened last season. That injury is often a career-ending one, but Gay says he wanted to prove you can come back from it. He also has said he is excited to play for the silver and black.

With Gay coming off the bench, this is a great substitute for Leonard. He will be able to bring his strong offense to the already strong bench unit. This is going to be crucial for the Spurs’ success this season.

This is the first time we have seen Gay take on this backup role in his career, but this seems like the best move for him at this point. It is going to be exciting to see what he can do.
