5. Bismack Biyombo

Bismack Biyombo does a lot of valuable things for this team, chief among them being rim protecting, screening hard and rolling to the rim. Alongside point guard Elfrid Payton, the two form an old school pick-and-roll duo capable of cutting through most defenses.

Biyombo is a strange case, however, as head coach Frank Vogel could do with a strong rim paint presence, and Biyombo has shades of 2012 Roy Hibbert to his game.

The team should want to keep him, but at $17 million per season (tied with Evan Fournier as the highest-paid player on the team), it’s a luxury for a team in the Magic’s position.

As a result of this contract, they will be unlikely to find a suitable trade partner at any point during the season. Biyombo is good, but you know what you’re getting with him.

There is no versatility there, and he’s being paid a lot of money to be that kind of player for this team.

So, Biyombo finds himself in fifth spot as a unique case. The team should be happy to have him, and it is. But if the Magic could rid themselves of his contract in exchange for a young player or a veteran/second round pick combination, they should think long and hard about it.

It allows the team to be more flexible in the future, and with Payton and Aaron Gordon to possibly get paid before opening tip, it could really help them in the long run.
