Los Angeles Clippers: 5 goals for Blake Griffin in 2017-18
3. Lead the Clippers into the playoffs
The addition of Chris Paul to the Clippers roster managed to revive a perennial doormat in the Western Conference into a legitimate contender.
Since the arrival of Paul, Los Angeles has won 60 percent of its games in each of the past six years, posting a regular season record of 313-163. The Clippers have won 50 or more games in each of the past five years, after never collecting 50 wins in the first 42 years of the franchise’s history.
The Clippers have secured a postseason berth in six consecutive seasons, a streak twice as long as any previous playoff the team has ever seen.
Now, the burden will fall on Blake Griffin to continue the successful run.
According to Sports Book Review, Los Angeles has the 12th-best odds of winning the 2018 NBA championship, behind Golden State, Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Minnesota in the Western Conference.
Several other organizations, including Denver, Portland, Memphis, New Orleans and Utah are legitimate threats to keep the Clippers out of postseason contention for the first time since 2011, the end of Griffin’s rookie year.
Anything short of a return to the postseason will be a failure in Los Angeles.
