3. Increase efficiency in drives to the rim

The Heat’s floor general only knows one way to play, and that’s all out from start to finish.

So it comes as no surprise that Dragic ranked third in the league in drives per game last season with 11.9 per game. This is clearly an impressive feat, and obviously demonstrates the extent to which Dragic attacks the defense. But at the same time, Dragic should be able to make more out of these ventures into the defense on a game-to-game basis.

From his forays to the rim, last season, Dragic averaged the least trips to the free throw line of any of the players in the top 17 for drives per game, averaging just 1.4 free throw attempts from his 11.9 drives per game. Furthermore, Dragic averaged just 1.3 assists per game from his 11.9 drives per game, despite passing on 45.9 percent of his drives.

Therefore, while Dragic is clearly among the most prolific in entering the heart of the defense, his level of return from these moves still has room for improvement.

Also, while Dragic managed to average 6.3 points per game on 52.8 percent shooting from the 11.9 drives he made per game, this ranked 15th in points from drives. Considering Dragic was third overall in drives per game, this ranking clearly needs to be improved.
