3. Kristaps Porzgingis’ hacked Twitter account

Kristaps Porzingis is looked at by many Knicks fans as the savior of the franchise and future star in New York. His presence in the lineup every night was one of the few bright spots of the season as he continued to improve his all-around skill-set.

The ongoing events surrounding his teammate Carmelo Anthony being publicly shamed by team president Phil Jackson have led to the Latvian star rebelling against the franchise by skipping out on his mandatory summer exit meeting. This decision sent shock waves across the league as teams became curious to see if the big man was available on the trade market.

While Porzingis was unavailable for comments or explanations regarding his desire to stay with the Knicks, many rumors began to swirl about there being interest in playing with the Los Angeles Clippers. It wasn’t until the beginning  of May during the Clippers playoff matchup with the Utah Jazz that a mysterious tweet from Porzingis went viral with no explanation.

It wasn’t until the very next morning, Porzingis released another tweet confirming he would never tweet such a thing.

This was the attempt to reassure Knicks fans that he wants to stay with the organization and for the most part talk many down from the ledge after a night of panic:

There is still plenty of skepticism as to whether or not he was truly hacked, but it was a grim reminder that another star could want out of New York. Knicks fans dodged a bullet, but the organization once again took another black eye, continuing to be the joke of the league.
