5. Derrick Rose Goes Missing

Derrick Rose was acquired prior to the start of the 2016-17 season to bring much-needed firepower to the point guard position. His athleticism and scoring ability may not be at the level he was famous for during his tenure with the Chicago Bulls but he could still get the job done better than most.

The one obvious time he didn’t get the job done last season was when he neglected to show up for work altogether. Rose was surprisingly absent from a home matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans back in January due to a personal issue that required his attention immediately. The only problem is that no one knew about his absence, since he never contacted anyone from the organization, causing many to panic and fear the worst.

Rose’s emergence from the disappearance was very odd as he seemed to play down his actions and not recognize the severity of his absence. The Knicks organization faced heavy criticism as to why he was never suspended for the stunt, instead getting hit with a fine that seemed like a slap on the wrist.

Rose’s situation would have been the lowest part for most team’s 2016-17 seasons, but it’s only No. 5 on this list because the Knicks were sadly just getting started with the dysfunction. Rose has since moved on to the Cleveland Cavaliers, looking to replace Kyrie Irving as the team’s starting point guard (until Isaiah Thomas is healthy, at least).
