5. A chance to be the man

This has already been addressed, but it is going to be the main point of this team. Kyrie will be taking the ball up nearly every time and this seems optimistic, but Irving will be shooting the ball over 20 times on multiple occasions.

Does shooting the ball more constitute him being the man? If so, go check the field goals attempted stats across the league and it should be no surprise Kyrie is among the top 28 players in every category except from 5-9 feet, where he falls in at 38th in the league.

Those stats are playing beside LeBron James, who basically fed him the ball and wanted the rest of his team to do most of the scoring. It’s arguable that James made Irving “the man” for the Cavaliers, but the same case can be made for James taking opportunities from Irving. I need to go wash my mouth out with soap after that last sentence but you get the point. Irving may have had the illusion that he was the man in Cleveland and now he’s “aware of the circumstances.”

Kyrie sees what LeBron James has and it’s understandable for him to pursue the same. Much like Kevin Durant joining the Warriors, he is doing what’s best for his career. Granted, this might be just what HE thinks is best, but nonetheless he has made his decision. Irving has still yet to hit his athletic peak and with a team that is suited to his abilities, Boston is in for an intriguing season to say the least. Irving is consistent offense and will score when given opportunities.
