Since the trio of Kyrie Irving, Al Horford and Gordon Hayward have been buzzing in everyone’s minds for over 24 hours, it’s time to get serious with our takes. Kyrie wanted the chance to be the focal point and now he’s got it.
It won’t take long for the Boston Celtics to get acclimated to one another, but there will be a learning curve. Al Horford is the only returning starter and the entire focus has shifted from a team-based approach to revolving around Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward as the primary scorers.
The success of this experiment is not necessarily guaranteed, although the pieces seem to be lined up perfectly for the budding Hall-of-Famer Kyrie Irving and his opportunity to captain a team. Leaving LeBron James is a decision he felt comfortable making and the Celtics made an executive decision to pursue him.
For some reason, it seems like general manager Danny Ainge knew this was the plan all along because of how well Kyrie’s supporting cast is. IT IS NOT LEBRON JAMES, I KNOW THAT, but it’s still pretty good for a scenario that was only known (to the public) for around a month.
Taking all this into consideration, here are a few things other than that Kyrie can expect his first season with his Celtics.
