The suddenly stable future of Kristaps Porzingis recently intersected with Dirk Nowitzki. The New York Knicks hope and pray he learned something.

The summer for the New York Knicks and Kristaps Porzingis has been very eventful. First, Porzingis rejected the chance to even speak to Phil Jackson at season’s end. Now, he is ready to make New York his home for the long haul.

While participating in the NBA Africa Game this week, KP gave an interview to Shaun Powell of NBA.com. In short, the Latvian giant still loves New York and says it is home to him now. His love for New York is crucial to the Knicks’ future, but there is something even better happening in Africa.

Dirk Nowitzki is an idol to almost every international player that plays in the NBA and Porzingis is no different. Consequently, KP is soaking up everything he can while sharing the court with Dirk in Africa.

Aside from them both being tall Europeans who can shoot, the Knicks hope they see more Dirk from Kristaps Porzingis. Every young man needs direction and inspiration. Hopefully, for the sake of the Knicks, their own European star becomes a little more like Dirk every day.

What can Kristaps Porzingis learn from Dirk Nowitzki? Obviously, there’s a lot both from shooting drills and his career as a whole.
