Sacramento Kings: 5 goals for De’Aaron Fox’s rookie season
The Sacramento Kings finally have an answer at point guard. What are five goals for De’Aaron Fox’s rookie season?
The Sacramento Kings decided to move on from point guard Isaiah Thomas three seasons ago, one move among many that the organization has come to regret. Since then, they have rotated through a cornucopia of mediocrity at the position.
Darren Collison, Ty Lawson, Tyreke Evans, Lanston Galloway, Seth Curry, Rajon Rondo, Ray McCallum, Ramon Sessions and Garrett Temple have all started games for the Kings over the past few years, and none have been the answer. The one player to provide true upside, Seth Curry, was allowed to walk and sign a bargain deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
This offseason the Kings decided to change things, and completely overhauled their point guard position. George Hill was signed in free agency as a steady veteran presence, easily the best guard to play in Sacramento in years. With only two years of fully-guaranteed money, the Kings are shoring up the position in the short-term without committing long-term money.
The reason to keep the future free is the presence of fifth overall pick De’Aaron Fox. Tagged as Sacramento’s target for weeks leading into the NBA Draft, Fox fell right to the Kings at No. 5. A tenacious competitor, the organization hopes he can not only make an impact at point guard, but help change the entire culture of the franchise.
With no small load on his shoulders, how should the former Kentucky guard approach his rookie year? Here are five goals for De’Aaron Fox as he makes his introduction to the NBA world.
