Following both a successful draft and free agency period, here are some trading options for the Philadelphia 76ers to consider.
After several years of struggle, fans of the Philadelphia 76ers are certainly starting to “Trust the Process.”
A pre-draft trade with the Boston Celtics led to the acquisition of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The result was the selection of guard Markelle Fultz, seen by most onlookers as a “can’t miss” talent.
In the ensuing free agency period, Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo made targeting veterans a priority. As a result, the team acquired shooting guard J.J. Redick and forward/center Amir Johnson.
Redick was a particular priority, with perimeter shooting being one of the targeted goals for a team who ranked 25th last season in three-point percentage. A career 41.5 percent shooter from long distance, Redick’s ability to space the floor, combined with his veteran savvy, are sure to be invaluable to the Sixers on and off the floor.
Furthermore, the addition of Johnson is also bound to pay huge dividends in the young Sixers’ locker room — a real area of importance considering the age makeup of the team’s frontline.

But despite the positive moves made thus far by Colangelo and his front office, there is always room for more. The recent news of Kyrie Irving‘s wish to be traded away from the Cleveland Cavaliers means is sure to have piqued the interest of many teams around the league, including the Sixers.
Also, the uncertainty surrounding the Cavaliers moving forward is sure to spark the mindset of several teams – that is, some teams may feel they could be a key transaction or two away from being a legitimate threat to come out of the Eastern Conference.
While this may seem a stretch for the Sixers considering their last four seasons, there is nothing wrong with exploring all options.
Therefore with this in mind, here are three potential moves Colangelo and his staff should ponder prior to the upcoming season.
