The Super Friends?

It is well-documented that Jimmy Butler is friends with Irving. With superstar pairings being all the rage in today’s league, it isn’t too difficult to imagine these two making the trade a reality.

The camaraderie between the two was first seen on the national stage with Team USA. Footage of the stars together indicates that they would create quite a competitive practice atmosphere.

On the court, Butler would be the perfect complement to Irving. He is an effective scorer, but he doesn’t default as his team’s primary ball-handler like James did in Cleveland. Possessing the ball more will result in a surge of confidence for Irving. It could result in perhaps the highest assist numbers of his career. This would be ideal for a player long stereotyped a someone who isn’t a “true point guard.”

Butler and Irving yearned for fresh starts, and Minnesota stands as the best (and only) place where they can do it together.
