Detroit Pistons: 5 best free agency moves in franchise history
5. Antonio McDyess
If there was an all NBA team for players without rings, Antonio McDyess could make a case for being on it along with perennial all-stars like Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing.
Bleacher Report and SB Nation listed McDyess on as one of the all-time greats for both the Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Pistons acquired McDyess in free agency twice. The first acquisition came on July 16, 2004. The Pistons and McDyess agreed to a four-year contract worth $22.5 million.
After suffering a severe knee injury earlier in his career, McDyess was willing to take a backup role when free agency started in 2004. The Pistons wanted to add more depth to the bench after winning the NBA championship in 2004. It seemed like the cornerstone of a dynasty.
He helped the Piston’s return to the NBA Finals for the second consecutive year in 2005. The Spurs won the NBA championship after winning Game 7 in San Antonio.
McDyess ranks ninth in franchise history in field goal percentage (50.9 percent) and turnover percentage (10.6). He’s also ranked sixth all-time in Pistons’ history for rebounding with 16.9 percent.
Though McDyess never won an NBA championship, his contributions off the bench made him one of the best Pistons in franchise history.
