Otto Porter Jr.: 5 potential landing spots in 2017 NBA free agency
Otto Porter Jr. and the Washington Wizards couldn’t come to an agreement on day one of free agency. However, the team is willing to match any offer sheet.
Otto Porter is looking to cash in this offseason in free agency. After meeting with the Washington Wizards on July 1, the two sides were unable to come to agreement. Since then, he’s scheduled meetings with other teams.
The Wizards already made a qualifying offer to Porter prior to the start of free agency worth up to $7.7 million. After meeting with the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, Porter already has a max deal on the table.
The Kings offered Porter a four-year deal worth up to $106 million when he met with team officials on day two of the free agency period. Since he is a restricted free agent the Wizards will have 48 hours to match the offer once the sheet is signed, which many sources have indicated will happen. The Wizards could offer him a fifth year to sweeten the deal even more.
It puts the Wizards in an interesting position as well. They have a decision to make on restricted free agent Bojan Bogdanovic if Porter does receive a max deal.
The Wizards have already made a qualifying offer to Bogdanovic, much like Porter, except that deal is worth $4.6 million. Bogdanovic is likely to be a lot more valuable than that on the free agency market.
As for Porter, he’s set to meet with two more teams before signing any type of offer sheet. With speculations abound, here’s a look at five potential landing spots for Porter in free agency.
