Trying to woo away any impending free agents from the Golden State Warriors has increasingly become an interesting subplot in the lead up to this year’s free agency.

Of course, we’re not talking about the likes of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry here, but rather the various role players whose futures with the team aren’t as guaranteed as they once seemed.

In the case of Shaun Livingston, the 31-year-old has filled a niche manning second units and has proven himself to be a solid, versatile positional defender. While he’s strictly limited to his midrange game offensively, Livingston continues being effective doing so.

For how well the Kings have done so far to reshape their point guard position, they could stand to add an experienced point guard on their roster to help mentor both De’Aaron Fox and Frank Mason III.

Taking on a mentor-type role would suit Livingston, but the rebuild window certainly stands as the biggest obstacle in luring him elsewhere to a team like the Kings. Nonetheless, prying away Livingston from the Bay Area would be a beneficial move for the Kings in the long run and they have plenty of cap room available to make it worthwhile for him as well.
