An integral part of the Golden State Warriors’ rise to prominence was Andrew Bogut. His defensive abilities and unselfishness on offense were significant advantages for the Warriors during his tenure in the Bay Area. Bogut is one of the last “traditional” centers and is comfortable with accepting whatever role the situation requires of him.

The Golden State Warriors traded Andrew Bogut to the Dallas Mavericks in the summer of 2016.  The move helped afford them the financial freedom to sign Kevin Durant. Bogut has always been injury-prone and even missed Games 6 and 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals. It is safe to say that the trade was a positive for the Warriors considering they won the NBA title and Bogut played in only 27 games last year.

Due to his injury history and age, Andrew Bogut will not be able to command a large salary this summer. He is officially in the “ring-chasing” category after signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers following a trade to and subsequent release from the Philadelphia 76ers. He will be looking to play more of a reserve role and his past familiarity with the Warriors’ system makes him an easy target in free agency.
