Philadelphia 76ers: Allen Iverson’s Top 5 Playoff Performances
May 13, 1999: Sixers vs. Orlando Magic (Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Game 3)
The Sixers finished the abbreviated1998-99 campaign with a 28-22 record, earning the franchise’s first postseason berth in eight years. The Sixers and Magic split the first two games in Orlando, setting the stage for the pivotal Game 3.
For those of you who remember Iverson as merely a scoring machine, there was much more to his game than that.
After scoring just 13 points in the Sixers’ Game 2 loss, Iverson bounced back in a big way. In this contest A.I. posted an impressive stat line of 33 points on 14-of-28 shooting, five rebounds and five assists. Did I also mention that he recorded 10 steals as well?
Thanks to Iverson’s performance, the Sixers came away with a 97-85 victory, taking a 2-1 series lead. The Sixers closed out the Magic in four games before they were swept by the Indiana Pacers in the conference semifinals.
