Golden State Warriors: 5 Must-See Games In 2016-17 Season
Dec. 11, 2016: Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves
You may be tempted to think, “How can a Timberwolves squad that won just 29 games last season be a marquee matchup on any team’s schedule, least of all the two-time Western Conference champions?”
Normally, that line of thinking would be correct. However, the Timberwolves were one of just two teams to walk out of Oracle Arena with a win last season.
In that contest, Minnesota overcame a 17-point deficit en route to a stunning 124-117 overtime victory.
One of the most notable stats from that game was the fact that two-time MVP, Stephen Curry, scored just 21 points (nine points below his season average) while shooting a pedestrian 7-for-25 from the field.
The Warriors will more than likely be one of the top scoring teams in the league this year as well. But with the presence of a defensive-minded genius like Tom Thibodeau pacing the sidelines, the Timberwolves will be playing with more of an edge this time around.
Simply put, this matchup will be more entertaining than it looks on paper.
