Philadelphia 76ers: 25 Best Players To Play For The 76ers
By Phil Watson
It was a franchise-changing trade in December 2006 when the Philadelphia 76ers sent Allen Iverson and Ivan McFarlin to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two first-round picks in 2007.
Miller had to replace a legendary figure in Iverson and he handled it admirably until leaving to sign as a free agent with the Portland Trail Blazers in July 2009.
In parts of three seasons in Philadelphia, Miller averaged 15.9 points, 6.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36.8 minutes per game, shooting .479/.179/.803.
Miller was the eighth overall pick out of Utah by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1999 NBA Draft, earning All-Rookie honors in 1999-2000 and leading the NBA in assists in 2001-02.
In July 2002, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and left in August 2003 to sign with the Nuggets as a free agent.
Miller was traded back to Denver as part of a three-team deal in June 2011 and was swapped to the Washington Wizards in a three-team deal in February 2014.
In February 2015, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings and he signed a free-agent deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves in August 2015.
His contract was bought out by the TImberwolves Feb. 25, 2016, and four days later he signed with the San Antonio Spurs for the remainder of the season.
Unsigned for 2016-17, Miller is 17th in NBA history with 1,304 games, 30th with 40,268 minutes played, ninth with 8,524 assists, 35th with 1,546 steals and 38th with an average of 6.5 assists per game.
