It was a trade that ended an era in July 1968 when the Philadelphia 76ers traded Wilt Chamberlain to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for All-Star Archie Clark, Darrall Imhoff and Jerry Chambers.

Clark played both guard spots while with the 76ers before being traded with a second-round pick in October 1971 to the Baltimore Bullets for Fred Carter and Kevin Loughery.

In parts of four seasons in Philadelphia, Clark averaged 18.2 points, 4.7 assists and four rebounds in 34 minutes per game, shooting 49.2 percent from the floor and 76.3 percent at the line.

He does not appear on any of the franchise’s all-time lists.

Clark was a fourth-round pick out of Minnesota by the Lakers in the 1966 NBA Draft and was an All-Star in L.A. in 1968. He was a late bloomer who was discovered playing intramural ball while in the Army and didn’t finish college until he was 24.

He earned another All-Star bid with the Bullets in 1972, also being named All-NBA. In August 1974, he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics and in September 1975, Clark was swapped to the Detroit Pistons.

Waived in July 1976, Clark retired and in 1992 helped co-found the National Basketball Retired Players Association.
