Alongside NBA All-Star center Andre Drummond, Reggie Jackson was the catalyst for leading the Detroit Pistons to their first postseason appearance since the 2008-09 season.
Even though they were swept in the first round by the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, their 44-38 overall record was a 12-win improvement from the 2014-15 season, which means success is likely to continue in the Motor City.
Drummond often received most of the attention because of his dominant presence on both ends of the floor, but without Jackson, this team isn’t even sniffing the playoffs.
Jackson has proven to be a dynamic scorer since his days of backing up Russell Westbrook during his three-and-a-half years at Oklahoma City. His career-high 18.8 points per game led the Pistons and ranked ninth among point guards.
He was by far the best passer and playmaker on the Pistons in 2015-16. Jackson’s 6.2 assists per game average led the team with Steve Blake being the next with an average of 3.4.
Jackson is heading into his sixth season in the NBA and his second full season as a starter. The Pistons are undoubtedly a team set to make a jump in the standings come playoff time, but it’ll all come down to the effectiveness of the duo in Jackson and Drummond.
