Derrick Rose: Top 5 Moments With The Chicago Bulls
5. Dec. 25, 2011: Bulls at Los Angeles Lakers
The first game of the lockout-shortened 2011-12 campaign proved to be a memorable one for Bulls fans. Although Chicago had trimmed an 11-point deficit to 87-86 with 20 seconds remaining in regulation, the Lakers were still in control.
But thanks to a heads-up play by Luol Deng, who intercepted a pass from Kobe Bryant, the reigning MVP took matters into his own hands on the ensuing possession.
Rose’s game-winner gave the Bulls an 88-87 victory, which was an accomplishment when you take into consideration that they scored just 32 points in the second half while shooting a woeful 12-for-48 (25 percent) from the field.
True to his low-key demeanor, Rose gave all the credit to his teammates.
"“If it weren’t for my teammates, making the steal and getting the ball to me at the end, there’s no way I could have gotten that shot off to help us win that game,” Rose said via ESPN."
Rose finished with 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
