Last season the Charlotte Hornets finished sixth in the Eastern Conference, equal in wins with the third placed Miami Heat. They played Miami in the first round, losing in seven games. Here are five roster moves they need to make.

The Charlotte Hornets were a really good team last year. If they had won one more game, they would’ve finished third in an extremely tight Eastern Conference race. With home court advantage, they might have gone deeper into the playoffs, but they were beaten first round as the sixth seed.

Their roster is in a state of limbo, some big names are coming out of contracts and this could be a watershed year for Charlotte. If they can keep these players then they are looking good for continued playoff success. If they can’t keep these players, then they are destined for a lottery pick.

I think that Charlotte must be reasonably confident in keeping most of their players, the exception being Jeremy Lin, who has opted out of his contract and will probably demand more money somewhere else given the year he just had.

Charlotte had the 22nd pick in the draft which they traded to the Sacramento Kings for the services of Marco Belinelli, possibly based on the assumption that they were going to lose Lin and wanted some insurance.

Here are five roster moves they need to make.
