1. Sign Hassan Whiteside Or Bismack Biyombo

There is no question that the Dallas Mavericks need a true center, one that they can build their defense around. Both these center’s fit the bill but I like Hassan Whiteside, currently of the Miami Heat as a better fit for Dallas.

Whiteside has some pretty special numbers. He led the league in blocks last season with 3.7 per game, he was fifth in rebounding with 11.8 per game and was productive offensively with 14.2 points per game.

Rick Carlisle tends to let his teams play without set plays; it is how they were able to win the 2011 Finals. Whiteside is really good at collecting the offensive rebound and finishing off plays that put him near the rim.

He is a terrible passer once the ball gets in to him, so what Dallas need to make sure is that they have a point guard who will make sure that Whiteside gets enough of the ball to keep him satisfied and the Dallas offense does not become stale.

Bismack Biyombo of the Toronto Raptors is a slightly different type of player. Biyombo is a defensive powerhouse who averaged 1.6 blocks per game and 8.0 rebounds per game.

His play for Toronto against Cleveland when Jonas Valanciunas got injured pretty much guaranteed him a nice pay increase this off season.

Biyombo would anchor the Dallas defense and most of his offense would come on fast breaks and offensive rebounds. This would not hurt the Mavericks,

Nowitzki is an offensive powerhouse still so should be able to carry a defensive center on offense like he did with Zaza Pachulia last year..
