2. Re-Sign Dirk Nowitzki

Now that Nowitzki has opted out of the final year of his contract, Dallas need to re-sign him. I can’t tell you the motivations of Nowitzki but it could be that he intends to sign a smaller contract so that Dallas can re-sign all of their important pieces.

This is one of the many reasons that I love Nowitzki. He is willing to put himself second to the needs to the team.

Nowitzki has been such a good player for Dallas for so long that it would be a shame to ask him to take a pay cut but I believe that he would do it for the good of the team that took a gamble on him all those years ago.

This Dallas team would be a great one with Whiteside or Biyombo at the pivot as discussed in the previous slide so if Nowitzki needs to take a pay cut to make that happen I believe that he will

Dallas has approximately $31 million of contracts on their books after Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons and Deron Williams have opted out.

Nowitzki still has plenty to offer this team. He led the team in scoring with 18.3 points per game. He moved up to sixth all time in total points in NBA history.

Nowitzki was also third on the team with 6,5 rebounds per game and 0.7 blocks per game. Not bad numbers for a player on the wrong side of 35.

This man lives, breathes and embodies Dallas Mavericks basketball, so he would do almost anything to help this team win
