1. Draft A Combo Guard

Minnesota only has one pick in the 2016 draft and it is the No. 5 overall pick. The Minnesota backcourt is talented, young and not very deep. LaVine is the only shooting guard on the roster. Rubio and second-year player Tyus Jones are the only point guards on the roster

If Minnesota drafts Jamal Murray, they will have a clutch shooter who can spell at point when required.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

Murray averaged 20. points and 5.2 rebounds per game for Kentucky last season. He looks NBA-ready and is a similar age to the other budding superstars in the Minnesota team.

Another option for the No. 5 pick is Kris Dunn from Providence. The 6-foot-4 point guard would be a good backup for Rubio. Dunn averaged 16.4 points and 5.3 rebounds last season.

Dunn has had a shoulder issue for more than a year and this could cause him to drop down the draft, but I doubt it. He is too good to go too far down.

Some mock drafts that I have seen also have Buddy Hield going around this area in the draft. If he is available then I believe that he is the best player in the draft not named Simmons or Ingram who could be successful straight away.

No matter what, Minnesota has drafted well over the last few years and I can’t see that changing.
