5 Roster Moves The Phoenix Suns Need To Make
1. Re-sign Jon Leuer and Mirza Teletovic
Jon Leuer had an amazing season playing 67 games, starting 27 of them thanks to the Morris Saga. Leuer averaged 18.7 minutes, 8.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He also shot a healthy 48 percent from the field.
Phoenix needs to sign a quality power forward. Leuer is good but can’t compete with the best in the game. Players like Serge Ibaka, Draymond Green, Derrick Favors, Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge are just a few of those in the NBA who are the next level up from Leuer.
Mirza Teletovic is the only other player on the team who can play power forward. The problem? He is, like Leuer, an unrestricted free agent.
If Phoenix is able to sign or trade for a power forward who is at the elite level, then Leuer will be able to resume his bench role that he played so well last season.
If Phoenix is unable to lure any top-line power forwards for next season, then they have the insurance in Leuer being around, so that there is at least some quality and experience at the position.
Fortunately Phoenix has the fourth pick in the draft, where they can also select a promising power forward. Leuer is a good insurance policy.
Re-signing Teletovic is also essential for Phoenix as he is a player with some trade value when paired up with one of Phoenix’s many guards.
