5 Likely Most-Active Teams During NBA Offseason
Boston Celtics: Adding a true Star
Who else?
General manager Danny Ainge is looking to put his team over the top and he’s in the favorable position of having the third overall draft pick this June.
The Celtics also have plenty of cap space, as two of their top players, Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, have very affordable contracts for he next few years.
The Celtics are looking for a game changer though, and while many names have been mentioned, the crown jewel is Kevin Durant. In order to recruit him, Ainge will have to trade for another star player.
Playing with great complementary players like Thomas, Crowder, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart would surely interest Durant or any other player, but in order to be seen as a true contender, the supporting cast needs an upgrade at the power forward or center positions.
The third overall selection will not sway Durant (or most other free agents) to come to Boston. A current star must be acquired in order to facilitate the Celtics’ big plans, so expect them to be the most active team during the offseason.
