5. Mark Jackson

Mark Jackson has his fair share of limitations, but he would be an excellent choice for the Los Angeles Lakers. He’s a master motivator who knows a thing or two about letting a point guard who can shoot run the show offensively.

The Lakers may not reach championship heights under Jackson’s reign, but they’d certainly become ferocious competitors.

Jackson is the perfect coach to come in and instill a defensive-minded mentality in the Lakers’ players. He’s a no-nonsense type of leader who forms close bonds with his players and finds what it is that motivates them to compete.

It may take a season for his impact to be felt, but the Lakers would create a much brighter future under his watch.

Jackson went 23-43 in his first season with the Golden State Warriors, but led a massive 24-win turnaround a season later. Golden State went 47-35 and reached the Western Conference Semifinals in 2012-13, and won 51 games in 2013-14.

If Jackson were to hire the right assistants to handle the offensive schematics, he could restore the Lakers to competitiveness.
