Teams Coached: New York Knicks (1995-2002), Houston Rockets (2003-07)
Career Record: 430-318 (.570)
Postseason(s) and Record: 9 appearances (1998-1999 NBA Finals), 44-44 (.500)

Jeff Van Gundy has a good track record of coaching success. He’s reached the NBA playoffs nine times in 11 seasons as a head coach, including a NBA Finals appearance and an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.

Van Gundy, the brother of Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations and head coach Stan Van Gundy, could land a similar gig to that of his brother. The Timberwolves are expected to meet with Van Gundy about leading the franchise, according to Yahoo!’s Wojnarowski.

Van Gundy, 54, has been a part of the ESPN team calling NBA games as a color analyst since he was fired in 2007. Basketball Insider’s Alex Kennedy believes that Van Gundy’s situation is similar to that of ESPN colleague Jon Gruden in that he has a good job, but wants to continue coaching and has plenty of interest from teams.

He has only been linked to Minnesota so far, but could have an interest in the Los Angeles Lakers were to fire Byron Scott and open their head coaching position.
