Most Improved Player: Raymond Felton

2015-16 stats:

  • PPG: 9.5
  • RPG: 3.2
  • APG: 3.6
  • MIN: 27.4

Raymond Felton had a very disappointing 2014-15 season with the Mavs. After coming over as a piece in the Tyson Chandler trade, he was simply looking for a new start after his legal issues with the New York Knicks had clouded his future.

His 2014-15 campaign left him with little to work with as he had posted career-worst averages in points (3.7), rebounds (0.9) and assists (1.4) per game. To make things worse, he only played in 29 games all season.

Then 2015-16 came, and Felton flipped a switch. He lost weight over the summer and spent time working on his game in order to become more of a contributor for the Mavs. However, he was in for a tough challenge, as he would also be battling Deron Williams, Devin Harris and J.J. Barea for playing time on the team.

Opening night came and it was obvious that Felton was a different player. He recorded 18 points, four rebounds and six assists in the win and his game rose from there on out. He went on to start 31 games for the Mavs during the season and reinvented the way he played the game.

He is set to become a free agent this summer but I believe the Mavs will bring him back. Without Raymond Felton, the playoffs would not have been a reality in Dallas this season.

Best Game: You can look at 23 and 22-point outings when Felton hit a ton of big shots for the team, but his triple-double (10 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists), though it came in a loss, was his most impressive game all year.
