15. The Mozgov

Some purists will argue that Blake Griffin’s dunk over Timofey Mozgov wasn’t actually a dunk at all. He threw the ball into the hoop from an elevated distance, and thus, many have made the case that it shouldn’t be included on lists of this type.

With all due respect to the people that feel such a way, what Griffin did to the then-New York Knicks center was too prolific to even consider leaving it off of this list.

Griffin’s first appearance on this list is a dunk that even has a title: The Mozgov. Mozgov has since emerged as one of the better defensive big men in the NBA, but having your name as the title of a specific type of dunk is a telling sign that it was a great one.

Great it was, as Griffin elevated five feet from the basket, was stopped in his tracks, essentially jumped over Mozgov, palmed his head, and still managed to throw it down.

There will be some resistance amongst those who feel as though the way Griffin finished this play disqualifies it as a dunk. The reality is, Griffin put Mozgov on one of the most unforgettable posters in NBA history.

Love him, hate him, or feel indifferent, what Griffin did to Mozgov was downright brutal.
