8. Jordan Clarkson

D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle have been heralded as the future of the Los Angeles Lakers, but if you’re looking for the best player currently on their roster, look no further than second-year guard Jordan Clarkson. At only 23 years old, his ceiling in this league is plenty high too.

After emerging as one of the more promising second round draft picks in recent memory last year, Clarkson has upped his numbers to 15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game on 44 percent shooting from the floor and 35.5 percent shooting from three-point range.

He still makes his fair share of mistakes defensively, but that’s to be expected of any young player. The question moving forward will be how well he fits in the backcourt with Russell, and whether he can become something more than a high volume shot-taker off the bench over the course of his NBA career.
