2011 The Cleveland Cavaliers

The 2011 NBA trade deadline was monstrous. The type of deadline that all fans hope for. The Knicks blew up their young core and acquired Carmelo Anthony. The Nets obliterated their franchise internally selling the farm for Deron Williams, not related Derrick Favors sure got good eh? But the biggest deal of 2011 flew relatively under the radar. The Cavaliers who needed some new faces with LeBron James now in south beach went all in and acquired Baron Davis! They also accrued a future first-round pick but those never turn into anything special right?

The Deal

The Los Angeles Clippers decided they needed to save some money, that they’d be better off surrendering an asset to clear the books. They shipped Baron Davis and a non-protected first round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In return the Cavaliers sent Jamario Moon and Mo Williams. That first round pick after some serious luck* in the lottery blossomed into Kyrie Irving.

The Cavaliers got one of, if not the most promising guard under 25 in the game today. Not bad for a small deadline deal.
