Go Big or Go Home

One of the best parts of the trade deadline is scrolling through Twitter to check out who everyone else thinks their team should trade for. Sometimes, a deal jumps off the screen and makes a lot of sense.

Oklahoma City kills two birds with one stone, upgrading at two positions in one deal. Kyle Korver represents the perfect shooting guard for the current OKC roster; an excellent spot-up shooter and solid team-defender. Horford would then slide into Serge Ibaka’s role as the third option on offense, where he would never be asked to take over a game.

The Rockets would get another shooter and elite shot blocker in Ibaka, who is under contract through next season and would not clash with James Harden the same way Dwight Howard has. This trade scenario also lands the Rockets a legitimate point guard that they desperately need in Jeff Teague.

Most importantly, they receive a return on Howard, rather than having him leave the Rockets with nothing when he leaves in free agency. Losing his contract would also give the Rockets more room to sign an impact player in free agency.

Howard grew up in Atlanta and has shown interest in playing for the Hawks, so getting him to re-sign after this season is not out of the realm of possibilities. Atlanta would also get a promising young point guard to fill Teague’s void in Cameron Payne, as well as two other players with plenty of time to develop on cheap deals.
