The NBA trade deadline is just a day away, and general managers around the league are exploring deals to make their team better.

Oklahoma City currently sits at third place in the Western Conference with a 40-14 record. In order to add some depth to the roster, General Manager Sam Presti should be doing everything he can to make a final deal to get his team over the edge.

If the Thunder are ever going to make a power play to convince Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to re-sign in free agency, now is the time.

Al Horford’s name has been brought up in a lot of trade rumors lately, and the Atlanta Hawks seem willing to deal their All-Star big man. Horford has the perfect skillset and attitude to come in to Oklahoma City and begin contributing right away.

Horford is on the last year of his deal, making $12 million this season. While he wouldn’t be a cheap addition to a roster, his salary wouldn’t be impossible to work around either.

The Thunder have one thing that nobody else in the NBA can say they have: Billy Donovan. Horford played his college ball under Donovan at Florida, where they won two straight national championships together.

Due to the fact that Horford would be playing for his old coach with the best surrounding roster of his career, it would seem to give him plenty of incentive to stay beyond the remainder of this season.

With the salary cap set to skyrocket after next season, the Thunder could be able to afford to keep Horford, Durant and Westbrook on the roster together into the future.

After finding multiple possibilities that work in the ESPN Trade Machine, both the Hawks and Thunder would have a lot to think about before saying no.
