The Milwaukee Bucks

This is not the first time the Bucks have had interest in Jeff Teague. They offered him a contract when he was a restricted free agent a couple years ago, and the Hawks waited until the very last season to match the offer and keep their point guard.

In this scenario, Milwaukee decides they still want Teague and swing a deal for him. The players the Bucks have to give up here aren’t worth nearly enough, so draft picks need to be thrown in to make things work. Imagine the following deal with an unprotected first round pick in 2017 and a second round pick in 2016 also going to Atlanta.

The Bucks have definite interest in Teague, but the deal here just doesn’t work well. The Hawks probably don’t have much interest in a pair of picks when they’re already a very good team, and the Bucks might not want to give up potentially valuable picks for Teague.

Jerryd Bayless is a good backup scoring point guard, but O.J. Mayo is in the midst of the worst shooting season he’s ever had. They’re both on expiring contracts, so essentially this trade will look like Teague and Hardaway for picks a year or so from now.

Atlanta would have to really want to dump Teague to make this deal, or have something else in mind for those picks.
