The Houston Rockets

The Rockets aren’t in a great place right now. They’re a playoff team, but many expected the Rockets to be legitimately great. That has not happened. Ty Lawson was a big-time acquisition for Houston, but he hasn’t worked out well.

So maybe it’s time to flip him, and bring back another point guard.  The Hawks will likely be cautious in bringing in Lawson and require a throw-in, but the Rockets might be okay with that if it gets them the fresh start they need.

It makes sense for the Rockets to move one of Motiejunas or Terrence Jones, considering they’re both on the last year of their deals and it doesn’t make a ton of sense for Houston to keep both. Dumping Lawson for Teague while losing one of two power forwards doesn’t hurt the Rockets much.

For Atlanta, they get a cheap if expiring power forward to either flip or keep before the deadline and also pick up either a super sub or starting point guard in Lawson. If anybody can get Lawson back on track, it’s Mike Budenholzer.
