NBA: 5 Teams That Should Hire Luke Walton As Head Coach
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are having the worst season in franchise history with a 9-37 record. Lakers’ head coach Byron Scott has to be on the hot seat, despite not having much talent to win with. He is in somewhat of an unfair situation, with young players, such as D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle, and some veteran players. From top-to-bottom, there isn’t much talent despite a promising future.
Scott has made some questionable decisions this season. One of those decisions includes benching Russell and Randle, who are both in their first full seasons. Scott was also put on blast by former player Stephen Jackson. Jackson claimed that Scott was the “worst communicator for young guys” in an interview with 120 Sports.

Scott is currently 9-37 this season with the Lakers and 21-61 (.258) in his second season with the team. He could go down as the worst coach in Lakers history, but he has to beat out George Milkan. Milkan was fired after going 9-30 (.231) to begin the 1958-59 season.
If Scott is relieved of his coaching duties, the Lakers become a prime spot for head coaches. The Lakers will have a little more than $49 million coming off the books following the 2015-16 season. The Lakers are in line for a top three pick in the draft. However, if their selection falls out of the top three, then it will go to the 76ers.
With Los Angeles being a prime location to lure free agents, the Lakers may bring in some of the NBA’s top talent. They already have a good young core of players with Russell, Randle, Larry Nance Jr. and whoever they select with a top three pick in the draft. Walton may consider returning to the team that originally drafted him.
