Brandon Jennings Trade Rumors: 5 Deals That Help Pistons

Brandon Jennings is a hot candidate for the upcoming trade rumors in advance of the trade deadline. Here are five trades that would help the Detroit Pistons.

Brandon Jennings‘ name has already come up in trade rumors, and it probably won’t be the last time either. Jennings will be a free agent following the 2015-16 season, but for now he’s the backup point guard of the Detroit Pistons.

Head coach Stan Van Gundy may be inclined to keep Jennings. If there is a more valuable piece that can be acquired by trading Jennings, then Van Gundy might deal him. In fact, he would even welcome a contract extension, according to the Detroit Free Press‘ Vince Ellis.

“You never have too many good players,” Van Gundy said. “From my standpoint, Brandon coming back to help things, if there’s a way we can work it to have him back, I would love that…”

“He absolutely loves the game. I think Brandon does a lot for our team – even besides what he does on the court.”

Jennings had a delayed start to the year due to his recovery from an Achilles injury suffered last January. In the 12 games since he came back, he has struggled. He’s averaging 7.4 points and 3.5 assists in 17.4 minutes per game.

Jennings looks healthy, but he hasn’t found his shooting touch. He’s shooting 38.7 percent from the field, a career-low 31.6 percent from three-point range and his true shooting percentage is 52.0 percent.

Despite his slow start, Jennings has shown the ability to score off the bench and could be a starter with the right team. He had a 20-point performance against the New Orleans Pelicans in 20 minutes. With Jennings looking athletically fit and ready to step into any role, teams will be willing to take a shot on Jennings since his contract is expiring.
