Front Office

The Pistons have had a couple of monumental moments that went viral across the internet. Teams have been known to do small promotions to market a specific player to the All-Star Game and the Pistons’ front office took full advantage of it this year.

Detroit is known for their music across many levels, and they used mashups to promote Drummond in an effort to get him to the All-Star Game as a starter. The most recent are from Eminem and President Obama.

The multimedia team also used Drake’s musical talent to mash it up with President Obama, again in a video to support Drummond’s trip to the All-Star Game.

The Pistons continue to be committed to improving the city of Detroit and making a difference. They are committed to spending $600,000 over the next six years to improve S. A. Y. Detroit. The money will be used to renovate the basketball court and gym at the S. A. Y. Center. Additional money will be committed to the enhancement of education programs through the organization.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was on hand for the ceremony and attended his first Pistons game in his new role. Needless to say, he is impressed with what the Pistons front office is doing.

“These teams are a lasting legacy in these communities, they’re part and parcel of these communities and the kinds of things we’re seeing that Tom Gores, Arn Tellem, his senior management group are doing is exactly what this league is about,” Silver said, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Pistons also retired a very memorable players jersey during the first half of the season. One of the best defensive players of all-time, Ben Wallace had his number retired on Jan. 16.

Members from the special 2004-05 team were brought back for the ceremony, including players, staff and front office personnel. It was certainly a special moment for Pistons’ fans and players. Teammates of Wallace’s were seen tearing up during the ceremony, such as Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince.

The Pistons did a great job of bringing the successful championship team back together, and they will do it again on Feb. 10 for Billups’ jersey retirement ceremony.

Overall, the front office continues to make a positive impact. They have been committed to improving the Detroit community all year, have done great promotional videos and have provided great entertainment for Pistons fans.

The Pistons begin the second half of their season with a four-game road trip. After their previous four games and beating the Warriors, their schedule gets a little easier until mid-March. Expect the Pistons to begin playing better and ultimately ascending in the Eastern Conference standings.
