The Detroit Pistons are 22-19 through the first half of the NBA season, which some may think is a disappointment. However, they have seen a seven-game improvement over last season’s 15-26 start.

Over the course of the last 16 games, the Pistons have gone 8-8. Since the Quarterly Review of the Pistons, Detroit has seen the return of the point guard Brandon Jennings, an improvement from rookie forward Stanley Johnson and a marquee win over the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

It has been an up-and-down 16 games since the previous review. The Pistons benefitted from a 4-2 stretch during a prime opportunity to play against weaker teams. However, they also caught a tougher four-game stretch that included their win over the Warriors.

The midseason review will grade each position and the front office on how they have done through the first half of the season, with the last 16 games being taken into serious consideration.

There will be a brief overview of each player within each position and how they have impacted the team. Statistics will be used to evaluate each player on how they’ve played. While basic statistics could do the trick, analytical statistics will also be used to determine how players are helping or hurting the team.

Due to an interest in the business side of things, the Pistons’ front office will also be reviewed. Their marketing campaigns, community relations, promotional videos and ticket sales will be the prime focus of their grading.
