4. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves already have the past two No. 1 picks in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, so why would they be in desperate need of this year’s top selection too?

Wiggins and Towns have tremendous scoring ability on the floor, but neither of them is what you would call an elite playmaker. There has been the experiment of forcing Zach Lavine to play the point guard role, but it didn’t work out because facilitating an offense is simply not in his game.

After getting off to a respectable start, the Timberwolves have come back down to recent years’ reality by losing nine straight games to find themselves in 14th place in the West with a 12-29 record.

With Simmons’ playmaking ability and basketball IQ next to Wiggins and Towns, the Timberwolves could be a team that contends in the West for a long, long time.
