3. Vinny Del Negro

Vinny Del Negro is another popular name that comes up any time there’s a new head coaching vacancy in the NBA. As non-sensical as his rotations were for the Los Angeles Clippers at times, it’s worth mentioning that Doc Rivers hasn’t been able to get them any further in the playoffs than VDN did.

Now that it’s been almost three years since we’ve seen Del Negro in the league, perhaps a team like the Nets would be enticing to a coach who hasn’t exactly been a hot commodity on the head coaching market.

Like Ewing, Del Negro would be a stopgap hire to bridge the team’s current misery to a hopefully more promising era down the line. If he proves himself in the process, great. If not, he’d be replaceable later on.

Vinny Del Negro is probably not the guy you want on a talent-depleted roster, but he’s one of the few coaching candidates who might overlook the Nets’ current and appalling situation right now just to get back in the game.
