The Brooklyn Nets are 10-24, but that hasn’t stopped Brook Lopez from being an absolute force in 2015-16. Despite lacking the perimeter help to adequately space to the floor, the All-Star center has been a force on both ends of the floor.
The result was Lopez being named as the most recent recipient of the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award.
Over the course of that week, Lopez averaged 26.7 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in three games played. He led Brooklyn to wins over the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, and followed with a 19-point outing against the latter team just two days later.
Two days after that, Lopez had 24 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks against the Toronto Raptors.
Seeing as these are the player power rankings, Lopez deserves to be mentioned amongst the league’s best players of 2015-16. He leads all centers at 19.9 points per game—No. 2 is Andre Drummond at 17.9—is No. 6 in the NBA in blocks per game, and is No. 8 in offensive rebounding.
Lopez’s team may be bad, but he’s No. 18 in the NBA in Estimated Wins Added—an accurate depiction of how much worse Brooklyn would be without him.
