NBA: 10 Incredible Things That Happened in 2015
10. Anthony Davis’ Arrival
2015 was the year in which Anthony Davis arrived as an NBA superstar. A case could be made that Davis did so when he made the All-Star team in 2013-14, but a similarly as strong argument exists that he did so because the All-Star Game was being played in New Orleans.
In 2015, Davis made his first career All-NBA appearance—and he did so by making the First Team at 21 years old.
Davis led the New Orleans Pelicans to the franchise’s first postseason appearance since 2011. He did so with otherworldly averages of 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.9 blocks and 1.5 steals on 53.5 percent shooting from the field.
According to Basketball-Reference.com, Davis is the first player to average at least 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 steal since Elton Brand in 2005-06.
Before Brand, it hadn’t been done since Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson achieved the feat in 1995-96. No player had posted said averages under the age of 25 since David Robinson at 24 in 1989-90.
Only two players have ever averaged at least 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks at 22 years of age or younger: Davis in 2015 and Shaquille O’Neal in 1994.
