Honorable Mention

Van Gundy’s deal to acquire small forward Marcus Morris will make the honorable mention list as a high. It has to be noted when reviewing the 2015 calendar year based on how Morris has fit in with the Pistons. Morris was acquired with Reggie Bullock and Danny Granger. Granger is not playing anywhere this season and Bullock has been spending time in the NBA’s Developmental League in addition to a rare appearance with the Pistons.

Morris is the real story though, averaging a career-high 14.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season. He has bought in to Van Gundy’s system and has been a major factor in how the Pistons have won games this season. This was another one of Van Gundy’s trades that he got on the right side of.

Turning The Page To 2016

As people celebrate the new year, the Pistons will host the Minnesota Timberwolves for their last game in 2015 before celebrating a new year. Once they do, they will turn the page and Pistons fans can look forward to a team competing for a playoff spot, something they haven’t done in seven years.

It was mentioned earlier, but Jackson is hoping to be the first player to average 20 points per game since Rip Hamilton did it in the 2005-06 season. Jackson is currently at 20.1 points per game, the same as Hamilton’s season.

The Pistons will match up well against Eastern Conference teams. They also have their lengthy West coast road trip out of the way already. Detroit has an immediate opportunity to start a winning streak with a favorable stretch of games over their first week and a half of the new year.
