According to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports, the New Orleans Pelicans are interested in trading for Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris. Morris hasn’t been on the best of terms with the Suns, but remains one of the more offensively dynamic players at his position.

In order to acquire Morris, Charania reports that Ryan Anderson would be available to the Suns.

"The Pelicans’ willingness to part with forward Ryan Anderson could make conversations worth exploring between the two teams, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The Pelicans are willing to consider moving Anderson as a part of a potential deal for Morris, especially if Anderson doesn’t show an interest in signing a new contract with New Orleans, sources said."

Rather than letting him walk in free agency, New Orleans is looking to get value back during Anderson’s resurgent season.

If Anderson is available to Phoenix, then he’d likely be available to other teams, as well. It certainly makes sense for New Orleans, which is not only in danger of losing Anderson to free agency, but is on pace to miss the playoffs.

Getting Tyreke Evans back certainly helps, and Jrue Holiday has begun to look like himself in his limited playing time. Having both players back at 100 percent could silent the trade talks if it leads to New Orleans winning games.

If the losses continue to pile up and Anderson refuses to commit to re-signing, however, the 2012 Most Improved Player could be on his way out of New Orleans.
